Weekend Recap

This past weekend was one we will never forget. It is always a blast to spend time with some of our closest friends and celebrate such a wonderful occasion! I didn't take as many pictures as I wanted, but I was able to capture a few with my iPhone. Kyle flew to Wichita on Thursday and I met up with him on Friday afternoon. The groomsmen played golf on Friday morning and were all a little pink and tired afterwards, but that didn't stop them from having a great time the rest of the weekend. Never will! That night we enjoyed a wonderful meal at the rehearsal dinner and then headed over to Chapman's moms house for the evening to hang out and socialize with all the out of town guests. I stayed at the hotel with Holly and Nancy while Kyle stayed with the groomsmen at Jarrett's house.

Before the rehearsal. Love her!

Saturday morning us girls took a walk and then took our time getting ready for the Big Day. We decided to go out for a great lunch at Bella Luna before the wedding and OMG was it good!

Ceremony

Love him!

My wonderful mother-in-law!

The beautiful bride!

Love these girls! Myself, Holly, Julia, and Carmen

The wedding and reception were a blast and I am so thankful to have been apart of the weekend. Heeney looked absolutely stunning and Chapman didn't look so bad himself! One of my favorite parts about the reception was the photo booth....so fun!!! Kyle gave a speech at the reception, along with Jarrett, Megan Chapman, Melissa Heeney and Kyle Heeney. They all did a great job and then we danced the night away! We look forward to making many more memories with the married couple!

Wedding Bells!

This weekend Kyle and I will be heading to Wichita to see some great friends get married. Kyle Chapman and Meghan Heeney will officially be hitched on Saturday! I'm so excited for them and can't wait to see Meghan walk down the aisle and Chapman see his bride. It is going to be a great celebration with so many people we love!

Kyle and Chapman have been best friends for many years! Chapman was the Best Man in our wedding and now Kyle is getting to return the favor. I really admire their friendship and think it's great how close they have stayed over the years. After meeting Heeney I knew that they were fit for each other and a great match. I love getting to spend time with her because she has the sweetest spirit and we always have great talks. I wish we lived closer to each other because we always have a blast. We are so happy for the both of you and love you so much! Can't wait to see you this weekend and dance our booty's off!

We're BACK!!!

Hello there! I have been wanting to start back on our blog FOREVER, but never could get enough motivation to start writing, but when is a better time than NOW?!?Of course we are married now and are no longer "Soon to be Fisher's", but now have been Fisher's for a whole year! Can you believe that one year ago today we were beginning our new life together, dancing to Brad Paisley "Something About Her," eating an amazing meal, and having the best time with all our closest friends and family! I can't help but look back on that day and smile from ear to ear.

This year has been the best year of my life! It truly is a blessing to have Kyle in my life and I couldn't imagine my life without him. Over the past year we have moved in together, learned to adjust to each other's annoying habits, searched for jobs, bought furniture, accepted my first Texas job, joined a church, traveled to Orlando, San Antonio, Los Angeles, Cancun, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, hosted family for Thanksgiving, received job promotions, BEAT OU, bought our first car together, hosted family multiple times, became an aunt and uncle again, explored Dallas, celebrated birthday's, and the list goes on....we are so blessed from what this past year has brought us and we look forward to what the future holds! Happy 1 Year Anniversary, Kyle!!!!

Wedding Plans - 18 days!

Hello Everyone...as Kyle said in the previous post it has been quite a long time. I've been wanting to blog ever since we quit, but it was so hard to motivate myself to actually do it. There have been many occasions that I need to blog about, but we will get to it eventually.

As many of you know we will be getting married on June 18th. It is coming soooo quickly and I can't believe it! It seems like yesterday Kyle popped the question in Napa Valley, but here we are just two short weeks away. There are lots of lists being made to make sure nothing gets left behind and that we get everything set up and put in place in a timely manner. There are times where I ask myself why did I not get married on the beach, but I quickly remind myself of all the special people we are getting to share the wonderful day with. All of the wedding planning is TOTALLY worth it. I cannot wait to marry my best friend!

We are looking forward to the wonderful honeymoon after the big day to relax and reflect on everything that has taken place recently. I promise to think of all of you while I lay on the beach with a wonderful book (yes, I said book) in my hand and soak up as many sun rays as possible.

I look forward to our new blogging journey with you! Do you have any book suggestions for me for the honeymoon???

Just another update!

It has been an eventful last couple of weeks since my last post. I realize that my posts are not consistent by any means, but when I find the time I like to jot down what has been going on. I hope everyone is enjoying the first week of March. Can you believe it is already almost spring??

+Last weekend Kyle and I enjoyed a weekend in San Antonio with friends. The weather was absolutely perfect and we ate more than we should have, but what's a vacation without yummy food??

+I had 4 tests this past week with a new online class starting as well. It was a very stressful week and this week will be just as bad. Pray for me!

+Spring Break is right around the corner...I'm looking forward to a relaxing break!

+Kyle got a Twitter account last Sunday and has tweeted 178 times. He goes a little crazy, but it is very entertaining. His account is kylefisher21.

+Basketball season is over for me and Softball season has started.

+Canon has been practicing hard core to be the ring bearer in our wedding. He does a great job and it will be very entertaining!

+I accomplished quite a bit of wedding stuff this past week. Kyle was a trooper and ran errands with me yesterday. I love that guy!

+I have my graduation fair tomorrow where I go get my cap and gown and order invitations. Oh.my.gosh I can't believe I will be a college graduate! EEEEEEEEKKKKKK!

+My roomie has been very, very sick this weekend. I'm glad she is feeling better!

+Bachelor Women Tell All is tomorrow night! I'm so ready for the Finale!

+I still love my iPhone!

+My room needs major attention, but I just can't get motivated to tend to it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Greatness

There have been quite a few things that have made me smile over the last week since I have been absent from my blog. I wanted to share those things with you so you can know what has been going on! :)

-I turned 22 last Sunday. I can't believe I'm already that old...where has the time gone?

-Kyle surprising me with flowers for my birthday and Valentine's day. He has it hard having my birthday the day before Valentine's Day, but he is the.best.gift.giver.ever!

-Going on a little shopping spree instead opening gifts this year. I got 2 new swimsuits, 2 pairs of shoes, a dress, pedicure, the cutest lamp in the world (for our future apartment), Pandora bead for my bracelet, target gift card, McDonald's gift card and of course the greatest...money! Thanks everyone for the wonderful gifts!

-Enjoying the warm weather. I'm so ready for Spring!

-Celebrating my Chloe's birthday over the weekend....she is 12?!?!? Crazy.

-Getting to have a movie date with my mom. BTW, I totally enjoyed Just Go With It.

-Spending the night at Kelli and Lane's...twice. That never gets old. They may beg to differ. ;)

-Receiving the iPhone 4...totally changing my life. Seriously, it may not be good. Anyone else have this problem of addiction??

-HeyTelling with Kelli while sleeping one room apart...Ha.

-Watching Bachelor while HeyTelling Holly the whole time. We are Team Emily!

-Going on a walk at the park with Canon and Ledger on Saturday. I love them!

-Hanging out in Dallas yesterday with Kyle. There is nothing better than going to the mall, watching a show, eating pizza, and just being together. Pure BLISS.

-Skyping with my mom and Chloe tonight!

-Getting pumped up about job hunting!

-Dreaming about apartment decor. I may need a little help in this department, but it's fun to dream.

-Flying with only a shoulder bag instead of a large piece of luggage yesterday. I love not having to stuff it into the overhead bin or asking someone to help me.

-Listening to Ledger say LaLa is the sweetest sound as of late.

-Enjoying a Twix and large glass of tea for my post watching of the Bachelor tonight.

I LOVE the simple joys in life! What are some of yours??

Lauren Fest 2011

Each year I get to celebrate Lauren Fest 2011.  It is one of my favorite weekends of the year!!  I am very blessed in many ways, but I usually try not to brag about how a lot of the things that go my way, but I have no shame in bragging about the weekend that is known as Lauren Fest.  Lauren's birthday happens to fall on the day before Valentines Day.  Ha, all joking aside, I do have a great time celebrating Lauren's weekend.  So far we are having so much fun in the long weekend I am getting to spend with her.

So, in commeration of Lauren aging by another year I am going to give you 22 things that you may or may not know about the birthday girl (a total rip of my my soon-to-be-brother-in-law, Lane).

22) She loves McDonalds more than any 22 year old should.
21) #22 probably stems from her favorite childhood pretend game, where her and her sister played McDonalds Drive-Thru.
20) Not that this is news to anybody, but she has a blanket.
19) She gets very stressed if things aren't organized or clean, which makes me happy that she is going to be on top of our dwelling in the near future.
18) She still loves Nick and Jessica, and the show Newlyweds, even though they are long divorced.
17) She played varsity basketball when she was in middle school, and was dominate.
16) Lauren hates losing almost as much as me.
15) Although she isn't alwasy the best multi-tasker, she is a great driver....especially for a girl.
14) I am fully convinced that Lauren is very excited and ready to get married, but I think she is even more excited about getting done with school.  She has been counting down the days for over a year.
13) If Lauren had all the riches in the world and could do whatever she wanted every day (other than help people, which would be her first action), she would live in a hotel and get a massage.
12) As much as work can consumes her free time she has fallen in love with OSU sports, which bodes nicely for me.
11) Lauren reads about 45 blogs daily.  I don't know if this is the real number, and I am actually scared to ask.
10) Lauren's favorite NBA basketball player is Dwayne Wade, and she hates Hakim Noah.
9) Her love language is words of encouragement, so any are appreciated (for either of us, ha)......
8) Lauren is surprisingly not scared of the "big city".  Coming from small town Oklahoma she has never seemed overwhelmed in our trips to Chicago, New York, San Francisco, as well as the times when she has navigated herself around Dallas.
7) Lauren's favorite movie is Sweet Home Alabama.
6) I burnt her a CD of a few of what I though were her favorite songs for her new car when we got it a few months ago, but the only song she listens to on the CD is Miley Cyrus.
5) Lauren has a huge heart, it makes her sad just when she sees someone else in pain or lonely.
4) Lauren has a weak stomach, she has passed out and nears throwing up anytime something bloody comes on TV.
3) She loves going to see movies in theatre (we are leaving to see No Strings Attached in 30 minutes), but I don't remember ever making it through a movie we rented without her falling asleep.
2) Lauren loves surprises and flowers.
1) Lauren is so great to her family and loves them so much.

Can we go now, PLEASE??

Sooooo....Kyle booked our honeymoon a few weeks ago and can I just say I am super excited about it!?!?! Not only is it another thing off my list that is booked and done, but it is going to be an amazing week spent in paradise with my husband. Woah, that is weird. I will have to get used to saying that because I'm just now getting used to introducing him as my fiance. I wanted to leave you with an amazing picture of our Sandals Resort in the BAHAMAS since we are all stuck inside with this yucky, cold weather we can dream that we are there laying on the beach in our swimsuits soaking up some rays! Ahhhh, doesn't that sound great?

-Has anyone been to this Sandals Resort?-

I Heart February!

Hello All! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed some of the warmer temperatures...well I did because I was in Dallas and it was 55 degrees on Sunday! I'm about tired of all this cold weather and snow, BUT tomorrow we have another snow day so that helps just a bit. Wahoo! We are expected to get anywhere from 6-12 inches. Hopefully that means my Sports Management test will be moved to next week! Please, oh please!

I can't believe we are already in the month of February. How is time passing by so quickly?? I don't understand, but I do LOVE it! There are quite a few things that I LOVE about the month of February and I thought I would share those with you! :)

+Receiving cute Valentine's from the cutest nephews ever
+FLOWERS! :)
+Wearing PINK
+Buying/Browsing spring clothes

-What is your favorite part about February?-

Home

A few times (maybe a handful) in your life you have interruptions.  These aren't always bad, but they certainly aren't always good.  It could be a death in the family, a marriage, baby, or really any large life change.  Recently I have a had a pretty huge interruption in my life.  I was planning on an interruption next June when I get my first girl roommate ever.....and I was okay with that (or at least prepared). But this interruption, although similar, was much different.

It started a couple of months ago when Kyle Chapman interviewed with my group.  Although it was a long process he finally landed a job at American in a group closely related to mine.  Since I only had a couple of months left on my lease, and then a couple more months until I get married we decided to save a few bucks and move in my 1 bedroom apartment.

If you remember, Kyle and I were roommates in college....which was also a 1 bedroom apartment also, but this was different.

We have about the same amount of space as back then but now we have adult stuff.  Two queen size beds, two big screen TVs and a whole bunch of clothes......

I suppose it is one last hoorah before moving in with Lauren (not that won't be absolutely wonderful too!)

Snowy Days!

It has been a great 24 hours so far AND.....we are out of school again tomorrow so looks like it will be another. I went to the store last night to stock up on food to get me through the next few days (are you proud, mom??) and I am so happy I did because there is no way my car will be going anywhere. We have snow drifts in our neighborhood that are huge!

Last night Jane made soup, salad, and homemade bread while we enjoyed watching Bachelor at Meagan's house! It was delicious! Who else is team Emily?? Love her!

Please excuse our comfy looks! :)

This morning we ventured out to play in the snow for a whole 3 minutes. The wind was blowing at what felt like 100 mph that made it absolutely miserable. I love the snow, but I don't know how people handle it all the time up north.

Just a January Weekend

My weekend started off getting to watch Chloe cheer in Tulsa for Boulevard. Kelli, Canon, and I went to help cheer on the Knights to a victory! Canon loved getting to watch basketball since he loves playing the sport himself.

After the game was over, my mom and I went to see the movie The Dilemma. I do not recommend the movie, but it was fun getting to hang out with my mom. I love the fact that we are close enough to meet in Tulsa on the weekends to spend time with each other. I stayed the night at Kelli and Lane's Friday night and we watched Courtney and Kim Take New York and the Duggar's! We always seem to fit in our favorite shows, Lane loves it. :)

Saturday morning, I headed to Stillwater for Women's Basketball Bedlam. It was a very exciting game the whole time, but the Cowgirls ended up losing by 5. After the game I headed back to Tulsa to catch a flight to Dallas to see Kyle and some of his high school friends that were in town. We went to Joe T. Garcia's in Ft. Worth and went to Billy Bob's to see Chris Cagle perform. We always have such a great time together and I'm so excited we all will live in the same state soon even if we are spread out.

Heeney and I

Please excuse Chapman's cowboy hat...he thought because we were going to a country concert he had to wear it. Don't worry he told everyone about it and wanted feedback about how it looked.
Carmen and I at Breakfast.

Tight squeeze picture.

It was a great weekend and now we are under a major blizzard storm! I'm so excited to be out of class...I think my wish came true last week! :) I need to start making more wishes. Looks like Jane, Meagan, Parker and I have a snow date tomorrow in our little neighborhood! Stay warm blogger friends!

Home Sweet Home

So, this past Sunday Kyle and I went apartment hunting. We both knew the area we wanted to live and the price range we wanted to stay in, but we hadn't narrowed it down to where exactly it would be. After a long day of looking we found the ONE! We are on the waiting list and should know something around the middle of March. It feels so good to know that we don't have to worry about searching anymore. I already went shopping a couple days ago for different things for the apartment, but had to talk myself out of buying anything because we have plenty of time.

So without further adieu.....

Determined.To.Catch.Up.

So this may be the longest post ever considering my last post was for December 25th and it is now January 25th BUT I can do it......HERE WE GO!

After a great Christmas Kyle and I headed to Ohio to spend time with his family. While we were there we enjoyed shopping, eating good food, playing games, an engagement party, New Years Eve party, working out (minus me), napping on accident, and watching movies. I always love getting to spend time with Kyle's family because it doesn't happen as often as I wish it could. While I was there I was determined to find a bridesmaid dress and thankfully I did. Of course, it didn't happen as easily as I would have liked it to, but after making a trip 30 minutes away, calling the Connecticut store, dealing with cranky store clerks and searching through the messiest store I have ever seen...WE GOT THEM! Story of my life.

Only a month late...Christmas!

I don't know what my problem is lately, but it is very hard for me to get motivated to blog. Maybe it's because Kyle says he is done with it and it overwhelms me to think its all on me to keep up with it. Hopefully he will jump back on board, but I'm happy he did it for as long as he did. This blog is a great tool to document our travels, relationship, family, and all other activities in between. If you would like him to continue writing leave a comment in the box so we can try and get him to keep going! :)

Christmas Eve!

Christmas was a little different for both Kyle and I this year because it was the first time he was away from his family and it was the first time we had spent it together. It was definitely bitter sweet because I loved having Kyle with me, but I know that his family missed him and he missed them as well.

Hey Mon!

Well hello there! It has been forever since we've blogged, but the break has been great to relax and spend time with each other, family, and friends. Everything started in full force today so I figured it would be a good time to get back on track with blogging. Over the next few days I will try and catch you up on everything we did over the break.

'Tis the Reason for the Season

My roommate Jane and I live together in a small condo community that the average age is probably 55 or so. She had lived here for two years before we moved in with another one of our friend's Meagan, who is now married and still lives in the area as well. As you can imagine all of us young folk stick out like a sore thumb!

Jane and I are constantly coming and going from class, work, and events so we usually don't see many of our neighbors, but when we do they are all very sweet to us. One particular lady who lives right next to us lives alone and she isn't home very often either, but when we cross paths she always makes sure to say hi.

The other night I came home from class and Jane came downstairs and said our neighbor brought us a poinsettia. We were both very shocked because she is friendly but she is very shy at the same time. Because we don't know her very well at all was reason we were so surprised. I think this opened my eyes to do something special for someone even if I don't know them very well because you never know how it will make their day. I know she definitely made our day!

Challenge yourself to do the same as our neighbor did, stepping out of your comfort zone to make someone's Christmas season very special!

By the way, I told Jane that I officially feel like an adult now for receiving a plant as a gift...now the REAL challenge is going to be to keep it alive! Wish us luck....

Simplicity

I started reading the book Velvet Elvis this evening.  The book is written by Rob Bell, and it flows similar to his videos.....makes me a bit sea sick.  If you have ever seen these videos (or read the book) the camera man looks like he was from the Blair Witch Project (not the quality, but the movement) and they zoom in and out.  He is always doing something somewhat odd, like walking through a grocery store or standing in his front yard.  I am sure my perspective is due to my lack of any creative gene, but this is how I feel when I read this book.

All of this being said, I love the guys messages.  Some times he makes me think so hard, and others he dials down the speed of my brain to realize something bigger than the details I am focusing on.....this is what happened today.

He is discussing "The Way".  His main point is how we all make this so complex.  He points out, "This isn't irrational or primitive or blind faith.  It is merely being honest that we are all living a 'way'".

So, here are his great points for living simple, and having your "way" lead you to God.

  • Being generous is a better way to live
  • Forgiving people and not carrying around bitterness is a better way to live.
  • Having compassion is a better way to live.
  • Pursuing peace in every situation is a better way to live
  • Listening to the wisdom of others is a better way to live.
  • Being honest with people is a better way to live.
These make our "way" sound pretty simple......

So I haven't put pictures on here in awhile because they have just been sitting on my camera, but I decided that this would be a post dedicated to pictures over the last month....there are alot so BEWARE!
Kyle and I at the Arkansas/Texas A&M game in Dallas!
