Meet Milton Antonio Ramirez De La Cruz. Milton is 5 years old and just started kindergarten. He lives in Cintalapa, a small Mexican city of about 65,000 people. Milton is Lauren and my Compassion International child. He is awesome!
We hear from Milton about four or five times a year with updates from his life, and we have the opportunity (which we take!) to write any time we want. Milton is always very interested in the weather, activities, and what we got for our birthday. His birthday is in October, but it seems that he talks about it all year long….although I am sure he doesn’t get many gifts and knows we are one chance for him to get a great one.
He loves going to church and his Sunday school class. He also enjoys rolling a hoop (some sort of popular Mexican game….?). Lauren and I decided to sponsor him a few summers ago when I worked for Student Life.
I highly recommend it! Please pray for Milton and his family.
Does Milton actually write you, like in his own hand writing? Or does someone else write for him? What do you get him for his birtdhay? An OSU jersey, hat, and shoes? Do you plan to ever meet Milton? Is he an orphan?
ReplyDeleteDang, that is a lot of questiosn. 1) Usually Milton's actually writes us, but as he gets older he will write it himiself. It comes with an English translation (very poor at that) with each letter. He does draw us pictures. Usually the same thing every time. His house, the sun, flowers and his family. 2) We aren't actaully allowed to get gifts for milton, but we can send cash. Usually about $20 and someone in his area gets him a gift that they know he will like. 3) I would love to meet him, but no plans at this point. 4) Nope, he has a family.
